Training Services
Goodwill Industries of East Texas, Inc. offers three training programs for persons with disabilities.
Work Adjustment Training (WAT)
One training services program offered is Work Adjustment Training. This is paid, minimum-wage, training for up to 25 hours a week. In this program the individual learns how to interact appropriately with coworkers and supervisors, how to remain focused on a job, to follow through on job tasks, manage time, and accept feedback in an acceptable manner. Specific job training in Janitorial/Custodial, Retail/Customer Service, Computer/Clerical, Cash Handling, Food Service, Shipping and Receiving, and Leadership is also provided.
Vocational Adjustment Training (VAT)
Another training services program offered is Vocational Adjustment Training. This is unpaid training, in a one-on-one or group setting, for 20 hours. Training is offered in one or more of the following topics: Transportation, Communication, Grooming, Goal Setting, Time Management, and Problem Solving, as well as various other areas.
Personal Social Adjustment Training (PSAT)
A more individualized training services program is Personal Social Adjustment Training. This too is an unpaid training, where the focus is on the development of appropriate social skills. Topics in this training include, but are not limited to, the following: making good impressions, how to express yourself, and being flexible. This training is offered in a one-on-one or group setting, with 5 hours of training offered a week.
